HÀ NỘI — Bamboo Airways will launch new direct flights from Hà Nội, Hải Phòng and Vinh to Côn Đảo from September 29th. Tickets on the routes go on sale from midnight on September 12th.
At a press conference held in Hà Nội on Wednesday, Nguyễn Ngọc Trọng, deputy general director of Bamboo Airways said the airline planned to operate the routes twice a day from Hà Nội to Côn Đảo and Vinh to Côn Đảo plus one daily flight from Hải Phòng to Côn Đảo route. The frequency on the routes would be gradually increased depending on demand.
“The launch of the new direct routes would not only offer opportunities for passengers from the localities in the northern and central regions to fly to Côn Đảo with different schedules and services, but also make a practical contribution to the post-pandemic tourism market stimulus,” Trọng said.
In addition, the new routes are expected to create new momentum to attract investment and enhancing links between Côn Đảo and important destinations, thereby contributing to making Côn Đảo a tourist paradise with regional and international stature.
Nguyễn Mạnh Quân, deputy general director of Bamboo Airways said the air fares would be flexible with many price ranges and would be regulated according to market supply and demand. The prices are based on regulations of aviation authorities on a ceiling price basis so that all passengers can access the fare. The lowest price offered by Bamboo Airways is only VNĐ1.6 million on one-way direct flight from Hà Nội to Côn Đảo.
Quân said the airline would use the new generation Embraer E195 jet aircraft on the new routes, which they expect to be delivered later this month in time for the first flight.
Bamboo Airways would become the first airline in Việt Nam operating this modern aircraft.
The Embraer E195 jet has a maximum speed of 871 kilometres per hour, a maximum range of 4,260 kilometres, averaging approximately two hours and 10 minutes to take passengers from Hà Nội to Côn Đảo.
He added that Bamboo Airways would use six Embraer E195 planes. The airline would increase the frequency when the Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport completes repair work to meet with travel demand.
The airline also aims to open new air routes Phú Quốc-Rạch Giá, HCM City-Cà Mau, Đà Nẵng-Điện Biên and Đà Nẵng-Côn Đảo in the fourth quarter this year.
FLC Group – the parent group of Bamboo Airways proposed the Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province and Airports Corporation of Việt Nam (ACV) approved funding to install lights at Côn Đảo Airport, to allow the airport to increase flight capacity during the night.
In 2019, Côn Đảo welcomed nearly 400,000 tourists, an increase of 37 per cent compared to 2018. After the period of social distance in early 2020, data showed the frequency of flights between HCM City and Cần Thơ to and from Côn Đảo was in the fastest recovery group. — VNS
