HCM CITY — SSI Securities Corporation was conferred the title of ‘Labour Hero in the Đổi Mới (Renewal) period’ at a ceremony in HCM City on December 27, making it the first stock brokerage to be so honoured.
The event was attended by Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh, former President Trương Tấn Sang, officials from ministries, HCM City, the State Security Commission, and the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, and others.
Phan Thị Thắng, vice chairwoman of the HCM City People’s Committee, lauded the outstanding achievements of SSI in 2009-19, saying it has helped the Government and enterprises mobilise capital through the stock market and contributed to the development of the financial centre the city is building.
She urged the company to remain innovative and expand its operations not only within the country but also in foreign markets to increase the global value of Vietnamese brands.
She promised the People's Committee would create favourable conditions for the company to participate in the equitisation of the city-based enterprises and the training of human resources.
Nguyễn Hồng Nam, general director of SSI, said his company’s “revenues and profits have grown thousands of times compared since establishment, making it the largest and fastest-growing securities company in Việt Nam, and it is among the largest taxpayers.”
Nguyễn Duy Hưng, the company’s chairman, said SSI ranked second in Southeast Asia in terms of scale, capital, profits, and market value.
Nam said the company has helped mobilise over US$12 billion in the Vietnamese market, with many deals being the largest in Southeast Asia. — VNS
