HÀ NỘI — Nestle Việt Nam and the Western Highlands Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute (WASI) inaugurated their “NESCAFE WASI Coffee Farm Experience Center” on Wednesday in Buôn Ma Thuột City in the Central Highlands province of Đắk Lắk.
The centre is the result of close co-operation between Nestlé Vietnam and WASI after 10 years of research, development and technology transfer on sustainable coffee development.
Located on a 100-hectare campus surrounded by lush coffee gardens, the centre consists of two storeys where the first storey presents consumers all stages processing NESCAFÉ coffee incubation to seedling production and harvesting, while the second to provides an area for enjoying coffee.
“The purpose of the Coffee Farm Experience Center is not only about telling the consumers so many inspiring stories about the hard work and the pride of coffee farmers but also promoting Vietnamese coffee to all people inside and outside the country,” said Binu Jacob, Managing Director, Nestlé Vietnam,
“The launch is an important milestone to mark the 10th Anniversary and to celebrate our close and effective collaboration with WASI, our key partner in the NESCAFÉ Plan programme, in the last decade.
“Together with the rest of the Vietnamese coffee community, we plan to do our part in helping Việt Nam increase the coffee quality, maintain its status as the second-largest coffee exporter in the world, and become the global benchmark for Robusta coffee bean production."
Trần Vinh, Acting Director of WASI added: "The Coffee Farm Experience Centre built by Nestlé Vietnam in the 100-hectare production area of WASI demonstrates Nestle Việt Nam’s efforts to promote Vietnamese coffee products."
Ivo Sieber, Swiss Ambassador to Việt Nam said: “With the excellent co-operation among the partners, I am confident that the Center will fully achieve its purpose in disseminating information on the coffee as a gift from nature, as an important agricultural commodity, as a source of income for the farmers and the coffee industry, and as a product enjoyed by millions of people around the world.” — VNS
