HCM CITY — Lộc Trời Group is among 27 enterprises recognised as prestigious rice exporters by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).

This is the third year in a row that the group has won the title.

The ministry recently unveiled the list of 315 companies in 26 business lines that won the “Prestigious Export Business” title for 2020.

MoIT coordinated with other ministries, sectors, business associations, provincial-level departments of industry and trade, and related agencies to select and publish the list of nominees on its website to collect public feedback

They were chosen based on the MoIT’s criteria, including minimum export revenue, business prestige to their foreign partners, and compliance to customs, tax, and environmental obligations.

The selection of prestigious export businesses is recognition of the positive contributions of exporters, and at the same time contributes to promote Vietnamese exporters to foreign partners.

Lộc Trời is the first Vietnamese company to export a consignment of 126 tonnes of fragrant rice to the European market under the EU-Việt Nam Free Trade Agreement last year.

Over the past years, its rice products have been exported to more than 20 countries in Europe, the Americas, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

It has a rice cultivation area of over 1 million hectares, owns the copyright of the main rice variety for export OM5451, and has a research institute with seven affiliated research centres. It was the first enterprise in the world to achieve a perfect 100 in the Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) standard. — VNS
